An archetype is
the ideal image of anything we wish to create or become; according to
Carl Jung, archetypes reside within the human the collective human mind.
The archetype of the Higher Self is the blueprint for all of humanity,
it's masterpiece and It is the blueprint for each individual as well.
[excerpts from AWAKENING
IN TIME, pg. 18]
Archetypes are time-honored divine blueprints of all things possible to create. They seek expression in modern-day garb through us in the concrete world. You can tell when something has taken on an archetypal significance by its intense transformative quality. It always feels "larger than life." Some of these Patterns enhance our lives, while others bring us great ordeals, illness, obstacles, or restrictions we must overcome. And all of this type of inner work is being used for the good of the whole as we move along toward learning to embody Spirit, or the Ideal, in human form. [excerpts from EMBODYING SPIRIT, pg. 33] Archetypes are the a priori patterns of all possible creations that reside in the "tissues" of our psyche. They are the psyche's structure and are therefore psychic facts. And psychic facts, as I've said, are "real-er than real," for they impact our psyches dramatically and cause us to change. In other words, though they are energetic patterns we cannot see, they definitely exist. They represent the patterns of wholeness that God apparently thought of when He created us. Archetypes for humanity are all our possible patterns; they shape the evolution of our species. [excerpts from EMBODYING SPIRIT, pg. 111] Archetypes are best understood as the organs in the psyche's "body." And just like physical organs, each one has its particular function of our Higher Power to perform in our unfolding Self-Creation. You could think of archetypes as God's Thoughts, which become our Imago Deo (our images of God). I like that! Through the archetypal realm we directly connect to God's mind; it gives us the opportunity to picture our God-nature. [excerpts from EMBODYING SPIRIT, pg. 112-113] Some most commonly recognized archetypes that we encounter and integrate are the Infant, Child, Mother, Father, Maiden, Youth, the Puella or Puer Aeternis (Eternal Child), Lover, Husband, Wife, Shadow, Warrior, Messenger (Avatar), Server, Savior, Wise Old Woman, Wise Old Man, God/Goddess, King/Queen, Magician, Healer, Christ, Buddha. [excerpts from EMBODYING SPIRIT, pg. 115] (Carl) Jung believed the archetypes are seeking evolutionary growth through us, as we are through them, and that they deserve our most vigilant respect while this great doorway is open between human and superhuman kingdoms. As egos we are spirits in human form; the archetypes are the forms of spirit. Archetypes are our mirrored reflection in a higher dimension, as we are theirs in this earthly one. [excerpts from EMBODYING SPIRIT, pg. 120] Whenever an archetype impresses our minds for realization, this can happen either positively or negatively. If we can accept its impulses and attempt to understand it and thereby represent it accurately, the archetype will transform us. But if we deny its pull on us and live it out unconsciously, we will fall in its grip and it will possess us. When an archetype constellates in your life you'll find that things accelerate into a highly-charged emotional state. You may fall madly in love, feel intensely involved in a mission, or have a sense that God is working in your life. At such times the psychic and the physical worlds become two facets of the same reality; so for awhile you will feel pulled either this way or that. Then, if you'll stay with the process consciously, psyche and matter will no longer seem to be separate entities but will arrange themselves into a meaningful symbolic situation.
